G Frame: Art of Death

Let me introduce to you: Obscur, created by Richard Söderberg.

What really attracted my attention towards this designer wasn’t really his designs, but rather the way he expressed them. Looking at the pictures of his collections, viewers were most likely to be drawn into them by the atmosphere and story. The perfect combination of both clothing design and dark, quiet mood told the silent fascination of the creator on the art and mystery of death.

A New Era Of Blitzkrieg Neon Injection

It never ceases to amaze me that the Singapore Dark Alternative Movement (SDAM) has been around since 1998 and in a span of 13 years, the Gothic/dark alternative subculture has undergone so many changes be it the creation of subgenres in music, the passing of iconic figures or simply the fact that Singapore itself is slowly beginning to embrace the concept of having unique individuals living amongst the general public. But this simply mean that we should rest on our laurels and be satisfied that the dark alternative has become acceptable to a transitioning generation that still have people who term it as “weird” and “diabolical”?

It only acts as a fuel, a flint that sparks the fire into an inferno and continue pursuing the very passion that we have taken to like a second skin. Good or bad, being an alternative in our respective fields has only made us hungry for more, the dire want to do so much more despite the limitations and finding means to achieve the materialised dream. Which is why SDAM continues to reinvent itself and progress with the times, delivering nothing but the best to the dark alternative community while extending a helping hand to those equally passionate and focused in their craft with no strings attached. Together with SinSkylar and Philip Von Grave, we channel our collective passion into SDAM and work together as a family to give you nothing but the best, unadulterated content from the web and in the flesh to satisfy your love for the subculture without compromise from external forces that try to cheapen the concept of the dark alternative.

With that being said, I really hope that everyone will look forward to the new and rejuvenating SDAM website which promises to be more interactive and yet at the same time not lose out on the personal touch. The second half of the year has just begun and with World Goth Day 2011 being a success and the maiden The Aggregate Requiem live band event set to get the community involved, 2011 is definitely not lacking in entertainment. In fact, its the foundation for progression and whoever said that metamorphosis leads to instability clearly is afraid to try. Because reinvention is the nucleus to ascendancy, just like the Goths did back then. Its not skin deep, its in your bones
